If you've been charged with a DUI offense at the 35th District Court, which covers Plymouth, Canton and Northville among other jurisdictions, you may need to pay restitution. This restitution stems from personal injury or property damage to others because of your DUI.
Although the "victim(s)" will submit a restitution amount, which the prosecutor will then pursue, it doesn't mean this amount is locked in stone. You have the right to an evidentiary hearing on the amount and appropriateness of restitution. Along with the possibility of restitution, you may also have civil liability (aka being sued). If you have a civil judgment against you because of a traffic related civil claim, this is NOT dischargeable in bankruptcy proceedings.
