Starting June 2013, Michigan criminal defense attorney Jonathan Andrew Paul will limit his criminal law practice to a smaller and more select clientele. Attorney Paul will limit the number and type of criminal cases he takes each year in order to provide more time and attention to each client. This applies to all of Mr. Paul's cases, including drunk driving, misdemeanor and felony offenses.
As a former busy New York City Assistant District Attorney and Oakland County (Michigan) Assistant Prosecutor, who handled 250 criminal cases at a time, Mr. Paul has managed large caseloads, but doesn't believe it's the most effective way to practice law. Jonathan has not put an exact number on the amount of cases he will handle on a yearly basis, but knows it will be a lot lower than what he has handled in the past. Along with this policy will come a more diligent screening process for the right cases and clients. Just because you have a case in Michigan, doesn't mean Mr. Paul is going to agree to become your attorney. If he's not available to take the case, he will recommend another excellent attorney in your area.
As a former prosecutor and criminal defense lawyer at some of the busiest and well-known defense firms, Jonathan has had the opportunity to work on every single type of case from drunk driving to first-degree murder. Mr. Paul has made the decision to focus his experience and talent on cases, which he describes as "good people who make bad decisions". Jonathan says he wants to help parents, kids, family members, college students and community members who are charged with crimes that won't necessarily be featured on the evening news.
So what does this mean for your case? Well Jonathan is always happy to take a few minutes to discuss your matter over the phone, and give you some feedback. If he's available and would like to represent you, then you will go to the next step of securing his services. If for whatever reason your case is not the right fit, or Jonathan simply doesn't have any availability, he will recommend another excellent Michigan defense attorney in your area.
