- Have you been arrested for a DUI in Oakland County?
- What courthouse will you have to go to?
- Are you being charged by the County or the local prosecutor?
- What exactly are you charged with?
Here is a handy checklist to get you started prior to calling my law firm:
1) The name and address of the courthouse should be listed on your ticket or notice to appear, which you were given when released from police custody.
2) Does your piece of paper say Oakland County Prosecuting Attorney - Jessica Cooper with a 1200 N. Telegraph address? If so, you've been charged by the County. If a different name appears with a different address, you're being charged by the local attorney (i.e. City of Novi, Farmington Hills etc). This does make a difference in resolving your case.
3) Look around your sheet of paper for your exact charge, there could be multiple charges. You could be charged with Zero Tolerance (DUI under 21 years old), Operating While Visibly Impaired, Operating While Intoxicated by Alcohol or the Presence of Controlled Substance, High BAC aka Super Drunk, Operating While Intoxicated Second Offense, Operating While Intoxicated Third Offense, Drunk Driving Causing Serious Injury or Impairment, and Drunk Driving Causing Death
Do your best to find out the answers to these questions, so we can jump right into your options in defending your Michigan DUI case. I look forward to speaking with you and learning more about your case. I do limit the number of criminal cases I accept each year, so I cannot guarantee availability. Please call 248-348-0496 or email me at jonathan@kellykellylaw.com. If I am not available to accept your case, I will work with you in finding another suitable attorney.
