Chelsea Michigan Drunk Driving - 14A-3
Today I appeared in court with a client who was charged with Operating While Intoxicated. This was her first offense, and she was concerned about her bright future being ruined. My client was worried that losing her license for 30 days plus almost a half year of a restricted license would impact her ability to earn money and advance in her career.
I immediately put her on my proactive program, which included attending AA meetings, substance abuse counseling and community service. Because of her efforts, we were able to get her Operating While Intoxicated charges dismissed, and she was able to plea to the lowest charge in Michigan, which allowed her to keep her driver's license from day one and saved her over $1000 in fines and costs. My client's proactive efforts afforded her an outstanding sentence as well. In Michigan, you can be sentenced up to 93 days and 24 months probation for a DUI charge, along with extensive alcohol treatment, classes programs etc.
My client received 6 months probation, minimum fines and costs and was told to attend one alcohol class with no additional punishment. My client really showed the court how committed she was to learning from her mistake, and the court rewarded her with this outstanding result.
