Michigan Driver Assessment Review at 12 points
In Michigan, drivers not on a graduated license can have their driving privileges suspended, restricted, or revoked if they accumulate too many points or have too many at-fault accidents. In Michigan, points remain on a license for two years and the underlying infraction will remain on the license for ten or more years, but the points will no longer be counted toward the total. If there are multiple counts in a single incident, the points from only one conviction or civil infraction is counted and it is the highest point infraction.
The Secretary of State may call a driver in for a review of their driving privileges once 9 points have been accumulate in a 2-year period. Failure to appear will result in 3 points being added. Once 12 points are reached, the Secretary of State will often require the driver to appear for a driver assessment review.
